Imran Ahmad

Even at a tender age, Imran Ahmad loved his camera which took him to a different world. Growing up in Singapore, Imran was surrounded by nature and the sea. His father would always get him books about the Ocean to look at. As his fascination for the ocean grew, the most appropriate thing to do was to infuse photography and his love for the ocean. Soon he developed a motto »Always Searching & Never Destroying« for his company »Escapeinc«. From then, it was always about storytelling through his images. Allowing his lens to speak for him; Imran capture images different from anything seen before. He pushes the boundaries of conventional photography, in an aggressive and relentless pursuit of capturing the essence of a situation. His style is creatively complex and unpredictable; invoking a provocative response. In his innovative exploration of underwater imagery, Imran has an uncanny way of capturing fluidity and lithe by playing with light, clarity and reflectivity, taking the water’s unique properties to breathtakingly new heights. Through underwater imagery, Imran also hopes to foster greater public understanding of the marine ecosystem and her inhabitants as well as promote awareness of the current environmental issues that threatens our vital ocean resources. As an internationally active photographer, his diversified portfolio includes commercial, editorial, portrait and underwater photographic assignments covering vast areas of Asia and other parts of the world.  Imran’s work can be found in many diving publications and countless other leading media throughout the region. Hidden Sanctuary, Imran’s first self published book takes you on a marvelous journey of discovery and hope, one celebrating life and all its diversity. Launched at the Malaysian Dive Expo in July of 2012,  his latest book Ocean Tapestry  is a visual delight of mundane and ordinary everyday scenes become extraordinary with a simple shift in perspective.
